The results of from the election on November 5, 2024 are finalized here in North Dakota. We did not win. We did, however, make progress. We received 105% more votes in 2024 than in 2022. And we outperformed the top of the party ticket by 2.7% in North Dakota.
I am incredibly proud of the campaign we ran. We out fundraised my opponent four reporting periods in a row, we bested him on the debate stage, twice, we out worked him meeting voters and we had better ads(many of you helped fund). Ads that helped us connect to voters.
We did not make all the progress we wanted. There is still work to be done to return your voices to Washington, to lower prescription drug prices, to restore women’s rights, to keep our children safe from gun violence, and to address so many unresolved issues.
The last stump speech I gave was on the eve of the election. I wrote it right before on a stack of note cards like I always do. And the theme of the stump centered on idea of this path. This path that we started down more than a year ago when I decided to run. When I decided that it was better to do this AMAZING something rather nothing, even if the cost is great.
My parents were able to be there for my final stump. My parents, who taught me the value of hard work, who taught me you can always give to and help others-even when you don’t have much, who worked to give me and my siblings the best shot at a great life and were successful-often reminded us whiny teens that life is often unfair. Many years into adulthood and days out form the election, I know this deeply. And yet their support and influence along the way led me to this arduous, vigorous path.
This path, that allowed me to travel the state and meet people and hear their stories and slowly build a coalition that believes in problem-solving, is not at a dead end.
It is a path I will continue to walk, run and clear of hurdles alongside you, my dear friend and supporter and voter-to build a more perfect union, to love instead of hate and to never give-up because as President Barak Obama said:
“If you are walking down the right path and you’re willing to keep walking, eventually you’ll make progress.”
Only 1459 days until we see just how far we can make it.
Thanks for giving it your all. Please take notes and share on what worked and what still needs to be done. Now is the time for everyone and anyone who knows America deserves better than what is ahead of us continue to band together and fix what ails America..............
Please don’t quote Barack Obama the savior of the Banks and Investment Moguls at the expense of untold millions of home owners. He was just another Empire manager. Get real, get down address the heart of the matter. We are a violent, imperialist, racist, misogynistic, terrorist nation and now have the leader we deserve. God help us!
