BREAKING: We Outraised Kevin Cramer

We are going to flip North Dakota blue in November

The political tides in North Dakota are turning. Today, our Senate campaign announced that we outraised Kevin Cramer during the May pre-primary reporting period. In just 52 days, we raised $352,000, significantly more than the $191,000 our incumbent opponent was able to raise in the same time-frame. With over 12,600 individual donations, averaging $25 per donation, it is clear that North Dakotans are tired of career politicians and are now making their voices heard through their donations.

I continue proudly forward without donations from corporate PACs, a statement that cannot be made by my opponent. At this time, Kevin Cramer has accepted nearly $2,000,000 in corporate PAC money. 

Every day, the numbers continue to reflect what we’ve known from the start that North Dakotans are tired of career politicians and are ready to make a change. Our campaign has done, and will continue to do the hard work to fight for every day North Dakotans.

This is just another example of the work ethic that I will take to Washington. I’ve promised to listen to and work for the people who live in our state, not the corporate interests that have been taking advantage of our state. I am honored by the support and will continue to work as hard as I can to defeat Kevin Cramer and be an advocate for working North Dakotans in the Senate.

When asked about the fundraising numbers, State House Democratic Leader Zac Ista said, “These fundraising numbers show something we have seen across North Dakota over the past few months: voters are excited about Katrina’s candidacy. She is a workhorse, who will fight tirelessly for North Dakota in the Senate.”

With this crucial funding, our campaign is now well-positioned to make a strong case to North Dakotans to move away from chaos we are seeing in Washington with politicians who are more interested in furthering their careers than solving problems for working-class people. 

Democrats have a razor-thin Majority in the Senate. With Senator Manchin’s retirement announcement has left our Majority hanging by a thread. Our race to flip this North Dakota Senate seat has never been more vital. I will vote to end the filibuster and codify Roe. We can win this race, and I have the polling to prove it. 

Our campaign recently commissioned our first internal poll and results were eye-opening. Some toplines are:

• The initial head-to-head has me at 29% and Cramer at 54%. This is to be expected as less than one-third of voters have even heard of me. But we closed the gap 10 points since the Emerson poll in October without a penny spent in paid media, showing significant potential.

• Only 33% of voters want to reelect Senator Cramer, 54% want to replace or will consider someone else.

• Only 42% view Cramer favorably, and 45% viewing him unfavorably. 24% of Republicans don’t approve of the job he is doing.

• When hearing positive messages for both candidates, I take the lead, 45% to 43%.

• When negative messages are incorporated, the final ballot has the race tied at 40% each.

Senator Kevin Cramer is a lifetime, lackluster politician, who has previously lost three statewide races in North Dakota, with mediocre polling numbers. His favorability is below water, his job approval flat, and his reelect is a dismal 33%. He is “more of the same” from Washington. He is part of the problem and not part of the solution.

I’m the polar opposite of Kevin Cramer and represents that change that voters want: I’m not a politician; I understand first-hand the challenges people face, I am a problem solver, and I’m an outsider unafraid to tackle the status quo in Washington.
