As North Dakota’s Next Senator, I will Protect Reproductive Rights
We have to flip North Dakota blue
This has been one of the scariest weeks for women across America in recent memory. Earlier this week, the Arizona Supreme Court upheld a bill from 1864 (before Arizona was even a state and women could vote) that criminalizes abortions and punishes those who perform abortions. The bill is so extreme that anyone who assists with an abortion could face up to 2-5 years in an Arizona prison.
Just when you thought this was extreme, Arizona Republicans had an opportunity to rollback provisions in the 1864 bill, but both the House and Senate refused to do so, effectively endorsing the ban.
Folks, this is what’s on the line this year. I told you that I would be honest with you from the beginning, and honestly, I am scared.
I am scared for my daughter’s future.
I am scared for our country’s future.
It’s why I am running for United States Senate in North Dakota. Not only will I protect reproductive rights (including codifying abortion rights and protecting access to contraception and IVF), but I will be a Senator who votes for judicial nominees who commit to protecting reproductive rights. Because, as we know all too well, we cannot rely on the current Supreme Court to protect our rights.
Not many people know this, but North Dakota had a Democrat representing us in the Senate just a few years ago. I’ll repeat that: North Dakota had a Democrat representing us more recently than a state like Texas.
We’ve done it before, and this year, with your help, we are going to do it again.
Democrats have a razor-thin Majority in the Senate. Senator Manchin’s retirement announcement has left our Majority hanging by a thread. Our race to flip this North Dakota Senate seat has never been more vital. I will vote to end the filibuster and codify Roe. We can win this race, and I have the polling to prove it.
Our campaign recently commissioned our first internal poll and results were eye-opening. Some toplines are:
The initial head-to-head has me at 29% and Cramer at 54%. This is to be expected as less than one-third of voters have even heard of me. But we closed the gap 10 points since the Emerson poll in October without a penny spent in paid media, showing significant potential.
Only 33% of voters want to reelect Senator Cramer, 54% want to replace or will consider someone else.
Only 42% view Cramer favorably, and 45% viewing him unfavorably. 24% of Republicans don’t approve of the job he is doing.
When hearing positive messages for both candidates, I take the lead, 45% to 43%.
When negative messages are incorporated, the final ballot has the race tied at 40% each.
Chip in any amount today, let’s flip North Dakota’s senate seat, protect reproductive rights, and show the country that we are viable and ready to win.
Thank you for everything,
Katrina
